Eric Ginsburg, Fridgeʼs Founding Director and well-known painter of soulful animal portraits, will donate 50% of the proceeds of commissions booked at the Fair to Brooklyn Animal Rescue Coalition (BARC), as well and from those pre-sold via the Fairʼs website through May 1. Details on the Fairʼs website - http://www.fridgeartfair.com/ Returning to an intimate space for this edition, Fridge will present and in-depth and collector friendly show by issuing this challenge to exhibitors – “How much art can you fit into the Fridge?” – encouraging them to creatively innovate and bring small works, works on paper, artist books etc. into a more open, hands-on setting. Re-invention is the norm for the iconoclastic Fridge, which has quickly become known for itʼs unique philosophy and approach, itʼs eclectic, loyal cadre of exhibitors drawn from all corners of the art world, and the ability of the team to go with the flow. Fridge Art Fair was born in 2013 on New Yorkʼs Lower East Side – filled to capacity with exhibitors who answered Founder (and notable painter, especially of dogs) Eric Ginsburgʼs challenge, “Can you fit into the Fridge?” -- at Kazuko Miyamotoʼs small but storied storefront, Gallery OneTwentyEight. The inaugural edition followed by a much-expanded Fridge NY in 2014, with 7000 sf of space sponsored by Plaxall, as well as 2 editions of Fridge Miami presented in Little Havana during Art Basel Week. BARC is a 501c3 not-for-profit, no-kill, privately run animal shelter located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. BARCʼs mission is to provide a safe haven for abandoned animals and to find permanent loving homes while providing them with quality food, shelter, medical attention, and the love they deserve.
