New Oculus VR Ready Lunar Destiny Game on Kickstarter

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. - March 24, 2015 - PRLog -- Innovate Our World (IOW), a 501(c)3 nonprofit, has created The 8th Continent: Lunar Destiny game, which is on Kickstarter starting today and going through April 23, 2015. Lunar Destiny gives players a chance to race, explore, and build a civilization on the Moon of the future, and will be Oculus Rift compatible. The game, currently at the tech demo stage, is an integral part of the 8th Continent Experience, combining play, learning, and opportunities.

Lunar Destiny will appeal to all types of gamers. On the Moon, you can race using a modifiable rover to get the best land to prospect for valuable resources. Build new structures or use pre-fab buildings to house your astronaut and to process materials. Sell your finds and get credits to expand your empire. Just beware of natural hazards from solar flares to moonquakes and your competitors who will make your empire building quite challenging.

A group of University of Maryland Baltimore County students were invited to play with the Oculus Rift tech demo and here are some of their comments:

A select group of Kickstarter donors will have access to the Lunar Destiny pre-alpha starting in June while others can get the initial alpha available this September. Other rewards include decals, signed game art, 3-D rover model, name a crater, and many more. Most donors will qualify to send their name on an actual Moon mission, too! Lunar Destiny can be played on most platforms and is designed for the Oculus Rift experience. This Kickstarter will support Innovate Our World’s effort to get Lunar Destiny ready for Steam by year’s end, when VR headsets will start to become widely available to consumers.

To celebrate Lunar Destiny and VR, all donors who give $8 and up will be placed in a drawing to win their own Oculus Rift, currently valued at $350! This will run for the first 48 hours of the Kickstarter only.
