By: New Way Recovery, Inc. The mission of Crave 21 is to teach students about the science of addiction and empower them to live healthier. Crave 21 partners with schools, providing curriculum and workbooks that teaches common core alcohol and drug education, coupled with new research around building healthy habits for success. This program is operated by a relatively new 501c3 non-profit called New Way Recovery, Inc., which focuses on addiction prevention curriculum for schools K-12. Data collected from the students has shown the Crave 21 program is strongly effective in educating and empowering students to make healthier choices, including waiting until 21 before considering alcohol and to avoiding nicotine and illicit drugs. Camden Brieden, Founder of the Crave 21 Challenge, has plans to expand the program to schools across the country. “The secret to our success is in our approach. We are bridging comprehension with this unique experience and empowering students with knowledge instead of just telling them what to do.” Crave 21 is currently working with prevention coalitions and elementary schools throughout the West Michigan area, while also seeking private donors to help scale the program across the country.
