By: Leomark Studios Before the team at Budapest-based Digital Movie Production even had a final cut of the erotic thriller, Dora reached out to potential distributors all over the world through social media, and Erik Lundmark, CEO of Los Angeles-based Leomark Studios, responded. Since the movie is about lonely, desperate people who tragically connect through a video dating site on the Internet, it seems somehow fitting that Leomark and DMP “hooked up.” Lundmark and Dora are hoping for a much better fate for their relationship than the one that befalls the characters in Log In, however. Judges at NOVA (Northern Virginia International Film Festival), a sister fest to Action on Film, where Log In premiers April 15, have nominated the film for Best Foreign Feature. And Leomark has set up a wide US VOD release through its New York partner Digital Media Rights on cable and satellite platforms, Amazon, GooglePlay, Hulu, M-Go, and other outlets later this spring. “Log In is a brilliant modern take on the classic epistolary novel, Dangerous Liaisons,” says Lundmark. “Instead of writing letters to each other, the characters post video messages to potential lovers using fake names and histories. The passion, the sexiness, the irresistible web of deceit from the French novel are all present in Log In. But Log In takes the classic drivers of lust and revenge and brings them pulse-poundingly into the 21st century with a first-person view of the action.” Best known for the 2006 comedy hit Szöke Kóla (Blonde Cola), Dora and writer/director Ákos Barnóczky explore much darker territory in this film, which stars Kata Gáspár (The Sunstreet Boys) as a Machiavellian social climber, András Pál as her icily charming co-conspirator, and Nóra Parti and József Tálos as two strangers who get much more than they bargained for when they team up to solve the mystery of their husband’s and daughter’s deaths. Dora and his DMP partner László Szabó are busy setting up their newest Chinese co-production, Dream of Southland, but on hand at NOVA will be Leomark Studios exec Maria Collis, who will appear on a film distribution panel at NOVA on April 17. The Northern Virginia International Film Festival runs April 13-18 at the Angelika Film Center and Café at Mosaic, 2911 District Ave, Fairfax, VA 22031.
