Follow on Google News | Phoenix Non-Profit Announces Event Geared Towards Children with Communication & Social ChallengesWith assistance from community volunteer members and under the professional guidance of educators and therapists, MORIAH will facilitate an inclusion-based TNT event, focused on supporting children in the expansion of social and communication skills in a fun, welcoming environment. The TNT event is being made possible through the generosity of kindhearted volunteers and donors within the community. Combining peer mentoring with light physical activities, MORIAH promotes the development of interpersonal communication, relationship development and exposure to learning between children. The programs are intended to facilitate interactions between neurotypical peers while encouraging social connections through the use of activities. MORIAH anticipates a combination of 27 peer mentor groups, pairing 27 children with varying special needs and 27 slightly older mentors at the event. Additionally, MORIAH expects more than 100 support volunteers and family members to be on site. “We are excited MORIAH’s social programming is aligned with the needs of so many families. It is our intent to reach children, independent of diagnosis or financial constraints that will benefit from socialization with friends,” MORIAH’s Executive Director, Brett Bernstein said. Aside from MORIAH’s social programming, the organization makes scholarships available to attend social groups or camps for children with special needs who may be financially disadvantaged. Through the success of this event, MORIAH is also intending on creating a weekly TNT class to be offered under the same format. About MORIAH: As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity, MORIAH was founded on the principle that every child deserves the opportunity to maximize their individual potential.
