Senior living community 'feels like home' for new Executive Director

BEDFORD, Pa. - April 8, 2015 - PRLog -- Danielle Foor is at home in her new role as the executive director of Colonial Courtyard at Bedford, a senior living community located at 220 Donahue Manor Road.

    “All the pieces of the puzzle fit into place and made sense when I started this job,” said Foor, who resides in nearby Everett. “I definitely enjoy the residents and the staff at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford. There is very good teamwork here and communication. It’s nice to work in a local community. I have a lot of ties to people here.”

    Foor joined the Colonial Courtyard at Bedford team in January and worked closely with interim Executive Director Candy Shomo for three months before she took over the executive director duties on April 1.

    “Danielle brings a wealth of experience and an enthusiastic approach to her role as executive director,” said Eric Walker, Director of Sales and Marketing for IntegraCare, the Pittsburgh-based company that operates Colonial Courtyard at Bedford. “Danielle and her family are Everett natives, and she has close ties to many people in our community. She is a true asset.”

    Shomo returned to her role as executive director of Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield, another senior living community operated by IntegraCare. The Clearfield facility was destroyed by a fire in June 2013 and is being rebuilt with an anticipated opening date later this year.

    “Candy left at the end of March, and I appreciate all the time I was able to spend with her,” Foor said. “I learned quite a bit from Candy.”

    Foor has a diverse background as a registered nurse who has held leadership positions at a family medicine office, another senior living community and on the team at wound care clinic in Chambersburg.

    At Colonial Courtyard at Bedford, she will work with six managers and a 52-member team that cares for residents and their family members.

    “It’s a co-dependent relationship,” Foor said. “We are here for the residents, but just as often we depend on them as much as they depend on us. It’s like we’re all family. For everybody who works here, it’s more than just a job.”

    Foor and her husband Jesse reside in Everett, Bedford County.
