P.I. inundated with women as he works three simultaneous cases

Three’s a Crowd’ tells tale of wisecracking P.I. pushed to his limits by cases, clients, emotions that threaten to get best of him

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - April 8, 2015 - PRLog -- SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – When P.I. Jackson Douglas encounters three young women each in potential danger, he feels compelled to provide for their safety while using his investigative skills to solve their problems. But he finds that dealing with three female clients and a host of conflicting emotions—theirs and his—is as challenging as solving a murder and investigating a national security leak. The further he digs, the more questions he finds, and the answers may not be the ones he was hoping for. Nathan Birr continues the adventures of witty detective Jackson Douglas in “Three’s a Crowd: The Douglas Files: Book Two.”

In the course of twenty-four hours, Jackson meets Ryan, Stephanie, and Marissa. Ryan finds Jackson by accident, thinking he is Douglas Jackson, a man who had just been murdered. Stephanie is being abused by her husband when Jackson chances upon her and rescues her from a beating. Marissa wants to hire Jackson to protect her from her boyfriend, both of whom work for a software company that recently developed a security programfor the U.S. Navy.

Working three cases at once is taxing enough, especially given their potential consequences. But Jackson also has to manage three distinct personalities, his clients’ fears and concerns, and his feelings for his new houseguests. As he is drawn toward lines he’d rather not cross, Jackson wonders, does doing the right thing ever mean risking doing a bad thing?

In “Three’s a Crowd,” Birr weaves together three separate stories in one, balancing between Jackson’s efforts to solve a trio of mysteries and the relationships that quickly develop with his clients. Throughout, Jackson displays his trademark humor and smart-aleck persona while also grappling with weighty, complicated issues. Can he keep his head above water long enough to create three happy endings? What effect will failure have on Ryan, Stephanie, and Marissa? And what toll will success take on him?
