Dr. Randy Salekin to present workshops at Summer Training Institute in NYC

TAMPA, Fla. - April 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Forensic Training academy of John Jay College of Criminal Justice is partnering with CONCEPT Professional Training to host a Summer Training Institute June 1-5, 2015 in NYC. Attendees will participate in in-person workshops with internationally renowned experts in the forensic mental health field. Dr. Randy Salekin, one of the field’s leading experts, will be instructing two workshops during this Summer Training Institute.

Dr. Randall T. Salekin is Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Alabama where he also serves as Director of the Disruptive Behavior Clinic. He received his PhD from the University of North Texas and completed his clinical internship at Yale University. Dr. Salekin has published on child and adolescent psychopathy, personality, and also has research interests in child and adolescent developmental maturity and amenability to treatment. Dr. Salekin’s research also focuses on understanding of the causes and correlates of disruptive behavior in children and youth. Dr. Salekin and his team provide novel assessment and treatment services for disruptive behavior disorder youth with Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, and Limited Prosocial Emotion.

Dr. Salekin received the American Psychological Association Division 41 Saleem Shah Award for Early Career Contributions to Law and Psychology in 2001. He was also recognized for Outstanding Service to the American Psychology Law Society as Member-at-Large in 2006. Dr. Salekin is Editor of Journal of Psychopathology and Behavioral Assessment. He serves on numerous editorial boards including the Journal of Abnormal Psychology, Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, Law and Human Behavior, Psychology Public Policy and Law, Journal of Clinical Psychology, Criminal Justice and Behavior, and the Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology. He is currently a member of the American Psychology Association (APA) and an active member of Divisions 12, 41, and 53 of the APA. Dr. Salekin is the author of over 100 scientific refereed journal articles and is the author of the leading handbook on child psychopathy titled “Handbook of Child and Adolescent Psychopathy” published by Guilford Press and the author of “Forensic Evaluation and Treatment of Juveniles: Innovation and Best Practice” recently published by the American Psychological Association in 2015.

Dr. Salekin will present training workshops on: Juvenile Offender Issues and the Assessment of Juvenile Waiver to Adult Court and ODD, CD & Callous Traits DSM-5.
