By: Glass Music Management Anonymous busker LONGY has issued a strongly-worded open letter to Noel Gallagher via music website Gigwise. Reacting to Gallagher’s recent remarks at the state of working-class bands in Britain, LONGY challenged him to “Fucking do something instead of complaining” LONGY is also no stranger to controversy: The letter is accompanied by a live video for new single ‘Positively Unemployed’, a raw and devastating insight into life on the breadline in post-millenial Britain. This ability to observe the frustration of the masses and craft it into poignant and well-written songs is where LONGY’s real talent and passion lies: "There’s a lot of fucked up things happening in Britain right now and no bands out there have the bottle to say anything about it. The closest music gets to saying anything is Myleene Klass complaining about the mansion tax and Ed Sheeran dedicating songs to a Tory prime minister. What the fuck is that about? Britain’s greatest bands have always stood up for the people. Now it’s like everyone’s rolled over and given up. They’re taking austerity on the chin, spending their weekends being spoon-fed mindless house music and shovelling horse tranquiliser up their noses, literally zombified while their futures are raped and pillaged. I tell you what, that’s gonna be a fucking nasty comedown." The video, recorded live at The Railway Hotel in LONGY’s native Southend features an introduction from Southend-based spoken-word artist Sonny Green. “We haven’t seen a ‘man of the people’ tale like this since Arctic Monkeys” - Artrocker “A potential front-runner for the title of people’s champion.” - Spindle Magazine FORTHCOMING SHOWS: Friday 24th April - Secret Location, East London Sunday 24th May - The Forum, London (w/ Sticky Fingers) Saturday 25th July - Tramlines Festival, Sheffield Saturday 1st August - Standon Calling, Hertfordshire End
