Healthcare Equity Conference Promotes a Diverse Culture of Care in Multicultural New Jersey

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - April 13, 2015 - PRLog -- Of New Jersey’s 8.9 million residents, more than 20 percent are foreign born and more than 30 percent speak a language other than English. The Garden State is among the top states in terms of overall diversity.

To help best serve NJ residents, the American Conference on Diversity will hold the 6th Healthcare Equity Conference on Thursday, May 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Princeton. The American Conference on Diversity hosts this annual conference to work with professionals and organizations directly connected to the healthcare industry in “Responding to the Needs of a More Diverse Culture of Care.” The conference showcases promising practices and provides an opportunity for dialogue related to concerns and challenges faced in creating more inclusive healthcare environments. Our goal is to ultimately increase our capacity to provide the best quality care for people of all cultures, religions, and ethnic backgrounds. The conference provides excellent opportunity to learn, grow, and create lasting change.

Carolyn Daniels (http://www.nj.gov/health/commiss/carolyn_daniels.shtml), Executive Director of the Office of Minority and Multicultural Health, New Jersey Department of Health; Ryan Parker (http://www.rwjuh.edu/inclusion/center-for-diversity-inclusion.aspx), Chief Diversity Officer and Assistant VP of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital; Dr. Eddie Santiago, who specializes in internal medicine; and Anna M. Trautwein, RNC Practice Administrator, Women’s Ambulatory Care Services, Saint Peter’s University Hospital.
