FAIRFAX, Va. - April 13, 2015 - PRLog -- Award nominations for this week’s Northern Virginia International Film Festival (NOVA) have been announced, and films submitted by L.A.-based Leomark Studios are nominated for a total of 14 awards. American Rescue Squad (2 noms), a musical satire of US politics, and Log In (3 noms), an erotic thriller from Hungary, will both premiere at NOVA. Blue Collar Boys’ nine (9) nominations add to awards the film has previously received at the Toronto Independent Film Festival and the Hoboken International Film Festival.

Leomark Studios is the US distributor and foreign sales agent for all three films. Leomark partner Maria Collis will appear on a NOVA panel to discuss distribution opportunities for independent films on Thursday, April 17, at 1:00 p.m.

American Rescue Squad has been described as “like watching The Zucker Brothers somehow infuse bodies with Trey Parker and Matt Stone and then have a baby with Mike Judge.” (Vern’s Video Vortex) The “political, action, comedy, musical with superheroes” is nominated for Best Comedy and Best Comedy Ensemble. It premieres Wed. April 15 at 2:00 p.m. at NOVA and May 19 on DVD and VOD.

The erotic thriller Log In is a 21st-century Dangerous Liaisons told entirely through video chats. An experimental film from Hungary’s Digital Movie Production studio (http://digitalmovieproduction.hu/), Log In is “a sexy, scary roller coaster ride that takes you to the heights and depths of human desire.” With a nomination for Best Foreign Film and two (2) nominations for Best Actress (Kata Gáspár and Nóra Parti), Log In premieres at NOVA Wednesday April 15 at 8:00 p.m. and goes into VOD wide release later this spring.

Blue Collar Boys, starring Gabe Fazio (The Place Beyond the Pines) and Bruce Kirkpatrick (The Wire), is Leomark’s trump card with nine (9) nominations, including Best Feature Film and Best Director. Director Mark Nistico and actors Bruce Kirkpatrick (Best Actor) and Sonja Stuart (Best Supporting Actress) will be in attendance when Blue Collar Boys screens Thursday, April 16 at 6:00 p.m. Blue Collar Boys is available on iTunes, Hulu, and Amazon. The fully-loaded DVD, which includes the documentary An American Story, is available from Amazon and Walmart.com.

All screenings and events take place at the Northern Virginia International Film Festival, which runs April 13-18 at the Angelika Film Center and Café at Mosaic, 2911 District Ave, Fairfax, VA 22031. Tickets for screenings and events are available at http://www.novafilmfest.com/#!tickets-and-passes/c1fnz.
