DENVER - April 13, 2015 - PRLog -- DENVER, April 13, 2015—There was no shortage of creativity at the Art Directors Club of Denver’s (https://www.adcd.com) (ADCD) 11th Annual Paper Fashion Show this past weekend, on April 10, 2015. With more than 50 designs featured, the competition showcased fashions not found in the typical closet. However, only one team could make the cut on the runway. University of Colorado Denver student team SLYNN led by designer Sydnee Masias won first place with Valkyrie, a design inspired by Norse armor and dramatic paintings of romanticism art.

A panel of five judges critiqued the fashions in several areas and assigned scores, based on creative complexity, originality, overall presentation and technical intricacy. The second place winner was Carlos Valles and Rosa Cabrera for their design Arachnophobia, inspired by avant-garde female villains. Falcon Fancy by Da Ream Team placed third, lead by designers Mia Huang, Courtney McArtor and Lyndie Raymond. The design was inspired by the ancient art of falconry and its history.

The Star Student winner was the Chaparral Fashion Club, titled Coeur De Cristal (French for Crystal Heart). The student team of Chaparral High School was lead by designers Gianna Tarka, Kassidy Yehl and Pamela Gonzales. DAVA’s Choice winner was Victorian SteamPunk, After the Apocalypse lead by team Triple J. Design of the Apex Academy. The That’s Made of Paper?! winner was Dark Matter by team Flying Pigs, lead by designers Kim Lim and Rith Lim.

“Seeing the level of creativity and intricacy on the runway is both inspiring and impressive,” said Susan Stites, president of the Art Directors Club of Denver. “It never gets old to see how such a simple product like paper can be transformed into a work of art. The future of our next generation of creative minds is bright.”

The 11th Annual Paper Fashion Show brought in more than 500 attendees. Proceeds from the show go to the Downtown Aurora Visual Arts.
