Mike has been a worship leader in the local church for over 25 years. His core values are to uplift and inspire others. Mike puts his heart and soul into every song he creates. He has a lot on his plate but is continually driven to spread the word of the Lord. Mike Parker and Open Door have performed at AtlantaFest for 2 years. AtlantaFest is one of the largest Christian music festivals in the southeast. They have also opened for musical icons such as Amy Grant, Phil and Kay Robertson from Duck Dynasty and John Waller. In addition to that, Mike performed on TBN and recently was a featured artist on The Joy FM radio station and they have been getting a big radio response nationwide. Mike delighted audiences for over a month in early 2015 at the Legacy Theatre in Tyrone, GA where he starred in the Johnny Cash tribute “Ring Of Fire". Mike just returned from a ministry trip to Vienna, Austria where he performed ministry concerts in prisons, schools and churches. He also had the opportunity to encourage young ministry leaders. It was very exciting for Mike and it was a memorable trip, but he is glad to be back home in Georgia. Mike brings a lot of charisma to every performance making it a moving and memorable experience for his audiences. His love and devotion for the Lord can be felt in his music. His passion for the Lord was ignited at a young age, growing up singing in church knowing that God's hand was on his life from the time he was 11 years old. Mike got the call to be a worship leader at the age of 14. He felt music so deeply in his soul, even when there was none to be heard in the room. Mike explained he cannot get enough of being with God, singing his praises and bringing others along to experience the power of God. Mike gave up a full vocal performance scholarship to Marshall University after spending a lot of time at Kentucky Christian University in the summers, touring with their choir and building relationships with professors. He fell in love with Kentucky Christian University and knew that was the school for him. With very loving and supporting parents they scraped up the support for him to attend. From there, Mike entered into full-time worship ministry, first in Lexington, KY and then in Sharpsburg, GA. The church has been Mike’s life for the last couple decades. “Now, I honestly cannot remember a time when my passion has been stronger to lead God's people in worship and write new songs for them to sing.” Mike stated.
