TAMPA, Fla. - April 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Forensic Training Academy is partnering with CONCEPT Professional Training to host a Summer Training Institute at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in NYC, June 1-5, 2015.Attendees will participate in in-person workshops with internationally renowned experts in the forensic mental health field. ODD, CD, & Callous Traits DSM-5 is a 1-day workshop presented by Dr. Randy Salekin. Early registration for this workshop ends May 1st!

This workshop is day 2 of the Juvenile Offender Issues workshop, but is offered as a stand-alone workshop. It will focus in greater detail on the disruptive behavior disorders providing information that helps psychologists better understand the conditions as well as intervene with them. Specifically, this workshop is designed to provide clinical psychologists with information on DSM-5 symptoms for Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Conduct Disorder (CD) and Low Prosocial Emotion (LPE). In addition, the workshop will cover some of the prenatal risks that have been shown to lead to conduct problems and callous-unemotional traits. The workshop will also cover the etiological theories that have been purported to explain conduct problems and callous-unemotional traits and integrate these theories in order to better understand the origins of the condition. Brain development and developmental maturity will also be over-viewed to discuss the interplay between maturity and conduct problems. Two specialty topics including complications in assessing and treating ODD, CD, and psychopathy as well as general personality will be covered. The defining features and potential etiology of interpersonal callousness will be integrated throughout the workshop and specific coverage of a psychological therapy program for youth with difficult personality characteristics will be discussed in the latter part of the workshop. The workshop format offers opportunities for input and discussion.
