Audi Hilton Head Sponsors Final Concert of Savannah Philharmonic’s 6th Season

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - April 27, 2015 - PRLog -- The 6th season of the Savannah Philharmonic will come to a close on May 9, 2015 at the Johnny Mercer Theatre. Audi Hilton Head is proud to sponsor this concert along with the German Heritage Society and several other supporting sponsors. The concert will be preceded by a pre-concert talk with John Canarina at 6:30 pm. Featured music of the 2014-2015 finale will include Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1, Wagner’s Rienzi Overture, and Strauss’ Rosenkavalier Suite. Other sponsors of the event include Madeline Walker Coastal Ballet Theatre, Audtin Hill Realty, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, United Community Bank, and Southbridge Life.

The finale is an homage to German composers, who were influential in the training of Artistic Director and Conductor Peter Shannon. Shannon studied in Germany and distinctly remembers learning Rienzi in Weimar and conducting Brahms in Heidelberg. German pianist Michael Hauber will be the guest pianist for the Brahms piece, bringing a sense of authentic character to the performance. Hauber is expected to bring depth, exuberance, and grandeur to the performance, which proves to be an epic interpretation of the famous piano repertoire piece.

The Strauss piece will conclude the concert as an exuberant throwback to the era of Viennese waltzes, and dips the audience’s toes into the masterpiece that is Rosenkevalier, the famous Strauss opera. This performance is bound to be a showstopper that will have patrons dancing in their seats. The Strauss Rosenkevalier Suite is among the richest pieces that represents German musical heritage at its best.
