ILC Dover Awarded Contract For Deployable Flood Control Systems

FREDERICA, Del. - April 29, 2015 - PRLog -- ILC Dover, developer and manufacturer of the spacesuits used by NASA, signed a contract with J-Track LLC to produce 23 Flex-Gate™ flood control systems for NYC Subway stairwells. The point of use deployable flood barriers, designed and manufactured by ILC, are an integral component of NYCT’s (New York City Transit) proactive measures to protect New York’s subway system from another storm like Hurricane Sandy. J-Track will perform the custom stairwell measurements, on-site preparation, and installation work required to install each Flex-Gate™.

Once installed within the stairwell opening, the Flex-Gate™ is ready for use at a moment’s notice. In less than five minutes a single operator can deploy the cover and lock it down, and once deployed, the engineered system can hold back 14 feet of water. This rapidly deployable approach eliminates the need to store critical components at a remote location, and allows the subway system to remain operational for as long as possible prior to the storm onset.
