Follow on Google News | TomCat Films Signs First Look Deal with Olive Films; Announces ‘Deadliest Prey’By: TOMCAT FILMS, LLC The films in the TomCat/Olive deal will include new releases as well as restored cult-classics derived from TomCat’s vast array of strategic alliances with independent producers and classic film rights holders. TomCat and Olive are teaming up after previous successes such as the restoration and release of the Bruce Campbell sci-fi classic, ‘Moon Trap’, as well as the worldwide cult phenomenon, ‘Roar’, starring Tippi Hedren and Melanie Griffith. Hailed as ‘The Most Dangerous Movie Ever Made’, ‘Roar’ has dominated today’s headlines with a theatrical release of the film in a deal with Drafthouse Cinemas. TomCat’ TomCat and Olive plan to move forward on the five picture deal with ‘Deadliest Prey’, starring Ted Prior and directed by David Prior, a sequel to the 1987 cult favorite, Deadly Prey, in which a group of sadistic mercenaries kidnap people off the streets and set them loose on the grounds of their secret camp, so the "students" at the camp can learn how to track down and kill their prey. “I’m thrilled to be working with TomCat again,” states Arshad. “Ted has a keen eye for identifying trends in cinema and satisfying audiences with a taste for cult films and mockbusters. This is a tremendous opportunity to bring otherwise buried gems to a domestic audience in an efficient and effective manner and is in line with the very spirit and foundation of Olive Films.” Chalmers agrees. “Olive Films is the perfect partner for this initiative as there is not another company with the passion and foresight they bring to the table for films created by visionaries for a niche audience with a rapacious appetite for quality content.” Both Arshad and Chalmers will announce projects to follow Deadliest Prey in line with an overall media strategy for the releases.
