Century Health Systems Collaborates with Natick Council on Aging to Present Health & Wellness Series

Presentation topics will include “Communicating with your Doctor;” “Basic First Aid in the Home;” “Balance Matters: A Falls Prevention Presentation;” and Medication Management.” All presentations are free to attend.
 
NATICK, Mass. - May 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Century Health Systems, parent company of Natick Visiting Nurse Association and Distinguished Care Options, will present a series of talks at the Natick Community-Senior Center. Presentation topics will include “Communicating with your Doctor;” “Basic First Aid in the Home;” “Balance Matters: A Falls Prevention Presentation;” and Medication Management.” All presentations are free to attend and are part of the Older Americans Month being commemorated at Natick Community-Senior Center.

Deb Hershon, RN, Distinguished Care Options Executive Director and Care Transitions Coordinator, and Tricia St. Martin, RN, Care Transitions Coordinator, will present “Communicating with your Doctor” on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 2pm. Hershon and St. Martin will address what you need to prepare for your doctor visit; how to keep track of what your doctor tells you; questions to ask at your appointment; how to address your concerns; and more.

Health educator and licensed EMT Juanita Allen Kingsley will present “Basic First Aid in the Home” on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 2pm. In her presentation, Kingsley will address such issues as: when to call 911; what you should have in your first aid kit; and how to manage common injuries and illnesses. She will also demonstrate how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). Kingsley is Director of Business Development for Century Health Systems and trains more than 2,000 people annually through her First Aid, CPR and AED courses.

Natick VNA Physical Therapist Margie Anderson will present “Balance Matters,” which will address what balance is; what the risk factors are for falls and how to minimize them; home safety; and exercises to improve balance. The presentation will take place on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 2pm.

Susan Nazarko, RN, Care Transitions Coordinator and Intake Nurse for Natick VNA and Distinguished Care Options, will present “Medication Management” on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 2pm. Nazarko will address the various responsibilities of managing a loved one’s medications; why keeping track of one’s medications is imperative; an overview of strategies that can help someone manage medications; suggest discussion topics for your loved one’s doctor visits; and more.
