Human Development Services of Westchester’s Neighborhood Preservation Program Announces Housing Summit 2015

Port Chester, NY May 12, 2015 – Neighborhood Preservation Company (http://hdsw.org/wordpress) is hosting The Port Chester Housing Summit 2015 announcing as its goal to inform village residents about issues on housing.   The theme for this year’s summit will be “Safe & Healthy Housing,” and its objective is to invite the community to learn helpful information on how to keep their home environment healthier, cleaner and safer.

Considering that 60 percent of the village’s property structures were built in 1959 or earlier, and the housing type ratio between owner-occupied to renter-occupied properties is 47 to 53%, it is important for our community to have a discussion about the environment that they live in, how to prevent unintentional injuries, detect household hazards such as lead, carbon monoxide, rodents, mold and moisture, and work with community stakeholders to understand property code violations and maintenance in order to improve the quality of life of our community.

Summit attendees will participate in a series of workshops and demonstrations throughout the day to increase their awareness and understanding of a healthy and safe home and community environment.  Registration is recommended, please call (914) 939-2005 or email HDSWHousingHelp@aol.com.
