Follow on Google News | WPB's Mounts Botanical Garden to Host 11 Fun & Informative Events This SummerBy: PR-BS, Inc * Nature Camp: Pirates in the Garden / June 8-19 * Book Discussion Series / June 9 * Tropical Fruit Festival / June 27 * Summer Evening Stroll / July 8 & August 12 * Orchid Trilogy / July 11, 18 & 25 * Propagation / August 13 * Topics in Tropicals / August 20 * Tropical Fruit Trees / August 22 (West Palm Beach, FL – May 11, 2015) The Friends of Mounts Botanical Garden will be hosting 11 fun, horticulturally informative and family friendly public events this summer: JUNE Nature Camp: Pirates in the Garden + Monday through Friday, June 8-12 – 9 am to 2:30 pm + Monday through Friday, June 15-19 – 9 am to 2:30 pm $125 per week for members; $175 per week for nonmembers * The Mounts Nature Camp will offer three concurrent sessions for K–1st graders, 2nd and 3rd graders, and 4th and 5th graders, running for two weeklong segments. Nature Camp will be full of adventure, discovery, and creativity as each program offers playful and creative opportunities for children to explore the world around them using a mix of nature exploration, science activities, art, stories, and games throughout the garden’s 14 acres. Children become artists in the Garden throughout this two weeklong camp. They will gather garden materials to create art projects and work together on collaborative creations. Mounts Botanical Garden Book Discussion Series Tuesday, June 9 - 7 to 8:30 pm Clayton Hutcheson Complex - Conference Room FREE In partnership with the Palm Beach County Library System, this new series provides an opportunity for book and garden enthusiasts to meet together to experience exciting fiction and non-fiction titles related to all aspects of gardening and horticulture. The featured book in June will be Bringing Nature Home by Douglas Tallamy. Tropical Fruit Festival: Come Taste the Tropics Saturday, June 27 - 9 am to 3 pm Throughout the Garden FREE for members; $10 for nonmembers Explore the delicious world of tasty tropical fruit with the Palm Beach Chapter of the Rare Fruit Council International. Festival highlights will include Tropical Fruit Displays, tropical fruit samples (limited to the first 500 attendees), plus fruit and fruit trees will be available for purchase. JULY Summer Evening Stroll with the Director Wednesday, July 8 - 6 to 7:30 pm Meet at the Garden Entrance on Military Trail FREE for members; $10 for nonmembers The best way to become acquainted with Mounts Botanical Garden is to take a walking tour with Garden Director Allen Sistrunk, who will share fascinating facts about the Garden’s history and exciting plans for its future. Along the way, he’ll stop to discuss rare and unusual specimens and to highlight plants that grow well in South Florida gardens. About The Mounts Botanical Garden of Palm Beach County: With a mission to inspire the public, Mounts Botanical Garden is Palm Beach County’s oldest and largest botanical garden, offering gorgeous displays of tropical and sub-tropical plants, plus informative classes, workshops, and other fun-filled events.
