CARLISLE, Pa. - May 14, 2015 - PRLog -- The 2015 edition of Corvettes at Carlisle will be about as Red, White and Blue as you can get.  This year’s show, August 28-30 is celebrating many aspects of Americana, including all service members, patriotic themed cars, displays, guests, etc.  Best of all, for the first time since 2010, Corvettes at Carlisle, its 50,000+ enthusiasts and 5,000+ cars onsite will band together to showcase an American Flag comprised of America’s Sports Car, the Corvette.

As noted above, the display returns for the first time since 2010, but it’s something that is frequently requested by longtime fans of the show.  Pulling off such a display is no small feat, and in fact requires some advanced planning.  Over 150 cars spanning Corvette history comprise the display and of course the cars are red, white and blue.  In addition, silver cars (the flag pole) will be included too.

With the display playing out on the northeast side of the grounds Friday (August 28), cars will span multiple rows and the flag is comprised specifically of 57 red Corvettes, 51 white ones, 35 blue ones and 10 silvers to round out the flag.  The white stripes signify purity and innocence and the red signify bravery and valor.  Old Glory is also home to 50 stars on a blue field representing vigilance, perseverance and justice.

Implementation will run between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., with the display itself in place through approximately 4 p.m.  While there is a slow build to assure the flag is properly laid out, the payoff is a true salute to not only the U.S.A. itself, but to the Corvette, a car that’s long been dubbed America’s Sports Car.

In addition to 2010 and modern day, the Corvette/flag display also took place in 2008 and will be intermittently worked into the event plans going forward.  So, why is this display such a frequently requested and popular aspect of Corvettes at Carlisle?

“Creating the American Flag out of Corvettes was a dream come true for me, literally,” noted Corvettes at Carlisle Event Manager Lance Miller.  “I woke up extremely early one morning with my mind going a mile a minute because my dream showcased a BIG American Flag made out of Corvettes.  I knew it had to be done and we did it with the help of the Corvette community for the first time in 2008,” continued Miller.  “Often people would ask me to do it again and we did, then they asked again, so we’re doing it again.”  Miller concludes “I can’t thank the Carlisle Events team enough for all the help they’ve provided to create such a display as it takes many hours to make it just right.  I’d also like to thank each of the Corvette owners that are a part of the flag; obviously without them we couldn’t make this dream display come alive.”

Registrations are ongoing for the flag and the event itself.  Regarding the flag display, once the 153 car field is filled, it’s filled, however; some vehicles may be accepted on a standby basis in the event that someone is unable to participate.  Complete details are available via www.CarlisleEvents.com or by calling 717-243-7855.
