BYXEE : the new smart device for cycling launched on indiegogo.comGreat news for all cycling lovers: Byxee, the first smart device for the active safety of cyclists, will be launched on the international crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.com on May 18, 2015.
By: Byxee In all of these cases an acustic signal will warn the cyclist. This notification signal foreruns the obstacle giving the cyclist enough time to act, thus the possibility to keep the bike and himself safe. The device is mounted on the handlebars. Byxee scans the road in real time. It doesn’t use a GPS system or potholes map. Byxee detects obstacles up to 25 meters away and it offers different sensitivity settings. The cyclist can choose between two different vision fields: narrow and large; thanks to that, the device is able to adapt to the cyclist’s drive style and to the type of road. Nowadays many cars are already equipped with brake system and active safety technologies that warn car drivers about pedestrians and other obstacles. Neverthless, drivers still need to pay attention and use their eyes on the road. Active safety technologies are a useful way to prevent possible injuries and damages and they keep evolving and improving. This technology is now available in a 65gr (2.3oz) device for all those cyclists who want to prevent possible unexpected situation. Cyclists can certainly trust their eyes and experience, however there are hundreds of expert cyclists and cyclotourists that fall off their bicycles every day due to road hazards, backlight, tiredness or because they are thinking at their performance, drinking water, answering the smartphone and so on. Unexpected obstacles can also appear, such as cats, kid’s balls, pedestrians, a car door and so on. Quick distractions can have serious consequences even if it is just a matter of a second. There are many websites and forums reporting pictures of injuries, broken forks, rims, frames, and seatposts. Newspapers too report about serious cyclist accidents. This device won’t substitute for the cyclist's attention which is the foundation of a safety ride. It aims to be a reliable third eye for cyclists on the road to safeguard their bicycles and above all their safety. The start-up Byxee chooses Indiegogo.com, a crowdfunding platform, to launch its revolutionary device. Indiegogo.com is the right platform because of its reliability and its notoriety and because the company wants to reach all the bicycle lovers of the world. On that platform you will have more information about our device, about how it works, you will know all the specifics and you will be able to pre-order our device at a very special price. The campaign is the basic first step because only with people's support will our start-up be able to start the scale production. Byxee is a project born on 2013 from the encounter of High Technology and the passion for bicycles. The team has a long experience and high professionality in the artificial intelligence field, in which it has developed digital detection algorithms used all over the world. Our start-up bases its vision on the constant technological innovation and its goal is to develop smart devices for cycling. Riccardo Ricci - Byxee founder - is also the creator of “Theenq semantic technologies” Detecting hazards on the road was the first Byxee's Team challenge. The second challenge was to give the device a long battery life. Vision technologies need high power to process images but usually have a very short battery life. Byxee technologies can be used up to 30 hours with no need of recharging, which is 10 times more than any other recording device. Byxee is not yet available on the market. After two years and 4 steps of research, today we have four Mark IV Byxee working prototypes that we are constantly upgrading and testing to reach the safest cycling experience. Byxee Mark IV is a pre-scale-production device with a definitive design, size, weight and functions. We will be able to ship Byxee devices to the media for reviews only if the crowdfunding campaign succeeds.
