Travis since 1992, has a rich heritage in serving as the oldest African American Baptist church in historic Marietta, GA. The church was founded by former slaves and traces its history back to Dicey, a young slave girl who, while attending Marietta First Baptist Church, was allowed limited membership status and in 1836, became the first African American to join. Zion invites the community and other surrounding churches throughout metro Atlanta to be a part of the celebration. This event is the kickoff of a series of yearlong ministry events scheduled through 2016.
