Free Skin Cancer Screenings Offered by Dermatology Associates of Oklahoma

TULSA, Okla. - May 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Dermatology Associates of Oklahoma (DAO) is pleased to announce that they appeared on KTUL's Good Day Tulsa.  During the appearance which featured the Medical Director for DAO, Dr Raymond L. Cornelison, it was announced that DAO was offering free skin cancer screenings in recognition of Skin Cancer Awareness Month.

"There is an epidemic of skin cancer sweeping our Country and throughout the month of May, people are encouraged to raise awareness about skin cancer," said Dr Cornelison.  "Dermatology Associates of Oklahoma will be doing our part by providing free skin cancer screenings at our Tulsa office".

Skin Cancer is now the most common type of cancer, making up more than half of all diagnosed cases of cancer, according to the American Cancer Society. In fact, each year there are more new cases of skin cancer than the combined incidence of cancers of the breast, prostate, lung and colon and the incidence of skin cancer is rising dramatically in the United States. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, melanoma is the deadliest type of skin cancer, accounting for more than 75 percent of all deaths from skin cancer.

"With early detection, even melanoma is highly curable," added Dr Cornelison, "the average five-year survival rate for individuals whose melanoma is detected and treated before it spreads to the lymph nodes is 98 percent."

The free skin cancer screenings will be offered at DAO's state-of-the-art office in Tulsa, OK which is conveniently located at 6717 South Yale Avenue, in the Oak Cliff Terrace Office Building between East 67th Street and East 68th Street.  Free skin cancer screenings can be scheduled by calling DAO at (918) 608-1382.
