Dodge Brings Us the Fastest Viper ACR Yet

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. - June 4, 2015 - PRLog -- The history of the Viper ACR is long (the first model appeared in 1999), and Dodge promises to continue that legacy, making this Viper ACR the fastest model available in the Dodge new vehicle lineup.

In fact, Tim Kuniskis, president and CEO of Dodge, says that the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR will be “...the fastest street-legal Viper track car ever.” Vipers have always been known for their affordable power and speed, and it looks as if the company plans to invest heavily for the future.

The 2016 Viper ACR will feature a carbon-fiber rear wing as part of its Extreme Aero package. This will enhance its aerodynamic capabilities significantly by bringing the Viper closer to the ground to increase its downforce. The Viper ACR’s rear wing—a crucial component of any racer—rises higher and sits farther back than the rear wing on previous Vipers, protecting against drag.

Other parts of the Extreme Aero Package will include a rear diffuser, detachable louvers over the front tires, a front splitter, dive planes that extend to the front hood, and a singular-looking hood, which all contribute to the Viper ACR’s aerodynamics and race car-like performance. Altogether, the Aero Package will net drivers nearly a ton of downforce when the car reaches its top speed of 177 mph. This is a vast improvement over the 2015 model.

The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR also has improved suspensions, brakes, and tires; its front suspension springs double the stiffness of the Dodge Viper Time Attack 2.0 and its brake discs are made to give the Viper ACR consistent racing capabilities no matter the conditions. Kuniskis has insisted in interviews upon its consistency and reliability—notable for a track car such as this one.

The Kuhmo Ecsta V720 tires were made specifically for the new Viper ACR, and are designed for street performance. Dodge has claimed that these tires almost double the performance of track-exclusive tires. This will all tie together with the current Viper's 8.4L V10 engine, and will maximize its impressive capability.

Dodge says that the Viper ACR will be versatile, with more than 25 million possible combinations. This car, the fastest Viper yet, will be on sale in the third quarter of this year. Interested parties are encouraged to contact their local Dodge dealership for more information.
