The Salon Professional Academy Grand Re-Opening

ALTOONA, Pa. - June 29, 2015 - PRLog -- The Salon Professional Academy (“TSPA”) is hosting their Red Tie Event July 1st from 5:30pm to 8:00pm to celebrate its move to a new location in Orchard Plaza (next to Big Lots). All money raised at the event will be contributed to TSPA’s new neighbor, the local Red Cross chapter. The grand opening will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by hors d’oeuvres, “mocktails,” swag bags, and tours of the new, upscale facility. Additionally, the festivities will include fund-raising through services offered like red nail polish changes and red hair extension, supporting the event’s theme of “red” in honor of the Red Cross. Co-Owner and Director Kim Hofer said, “The Red Cross impacts the lives of so many people in such a meaningful way. We are so proud and honored to have them in the community and we wanted to do our part to support their efforts.” Rounding out the evening’s events will be an opportunity for a meet-and-greet with world-renowned hairdresser and the Redken 5th Avenue NYC Artistic Director, Chris Baran. “In the world of hairdressers, he’s a rock star. He’s our Elvis!” said Hofer of Baran.

The brand new academy features high-end appointments and furnishings similar to elite salons in New York City. In addition to the upscale environment, Hofer said, “Our focus is to provide the best education and skills training possible so that our graduates are truly prepared for success in the industry.” This commitment to education is further evidenced by the fact that TSPA Altoona is one of only fifteen beauty schools in the entire nation that has earned the Redken Diamond Academy designation. To earn this award, a beauty school must undergo a rigorous examination of its facility, systems, curriculum, and staff training.

TSPA Altoona has been part of the community for more than 50 years, as it was formerly known as Pruonto’s Hair Design Institute before becoming a TSPA franchise. Ms. Hofer’s parents, lovingly known to all as Mr. and Mrs. S, were Pruonto’s owners (and Mrs. S an educator there) for more than 35 years. As Ms. Hofer noted, “Cosmetology was their passion and passing on their knowledge to train the next generation of cosmetology professionals was their mission in life. To her core, Mrs. S was a teacher. We wish that they were still with us, as they would be so proud of our new location.”
