Preloved Proud to Support Oxfam

Preloved is proud to announce its partnership with leading UK poverty charity, Oxfam. Preloved shoppers can now enjoy a wider range of second hand products, whilst also having the opportunity to support Oxfam's important work.

NORTHWICH, U.K. - June 30, 2015 - PRLog -- Preloved is the UK's most trusted marketplace, and the nation's number one destination to buy and sell second hand items online. As a community driven classified advertising site, Preloved is proud to announce its new partnership with leading UK poverty charity, Oxfam.

Oxfam projects to improve the lives of people living in poverty around the world, and works with policy-makers to tackle the causes of poverty. Due to Oxfam programmes in 2013/14:

- 11 million people in poverty were reached in 52 countries
- 3.8 million people had access to clean water
- 1.4 million people are benefiting from improved sanitation facilities
- 400,000 people are benefiting from support to improve their crops, goods or services

With over 15% of retail shopping set to happen online throughout 2015, the need to create an online outlet for consumers is becoming an increasingly important business move for many high street retailers. Charity stores such as Oxfam, that raise money by selling second hand goods, are no exception.

Oxfam has almost 700 high street stores, many of which also sell items on the Oxfam online shop which has over 100,000 donated items available for sale at any given time.

The Oxfam Online Shop delivers all over the UK and includes:

- Broad product category range - clothing (vintage and high street fashion, including designer brands and bridal), books, music, entertainment and homeware.
- Seasonal clothing trend guides focused around second hand and vintage items
- Oxfam Unwrapped, a charity gift range
- "Shop by collection" categories across clothing and other unique items

Preloved recognises the importance of exposing these types of online stores so charities such as Oxfam can continue to carry out their work.

As part of this partnership, Oxfam's second hand items will be imported into Preloved's advert stream, so users benefit from a wider choice of items for sale, and support Oxfam as it fights global poverty.

Kathryn Leak, oxfam's Head od E-Commerce said:

"Opening up the catalogue of donated items on the Oxfam Online Shop to Preloved customers is a great opportunity to make more people aware of the fantastic range of items on sale at Oxfam, both in-store and online. Oxfam has almost 700 high street shops across the country, many of which also sell items on the Oxfam Online Shop. The Oxfam Online Shop is a vast emporium selling everything from vintage fashion and antiquarian books to quirky homewares and rare vinyl.

“All Oxfam shops raise necessary funds for Oxfam's humanitarian, development and campaigning work across the world. The current focus of our relief efforts is in Nepal, where recently two powerful earthquakes killed thousands and destroyed villages and homes. Oxfam is working in Nepal and urgently needs help to provide clean water, toilets, hygiene kits, emergency shelter, food and seeds. All profits raised from our shops go towards funding this sort of vital work with poor communities around the world."

When buying second hand, consumers are also being more environmentally responsible. Preloved supports the trade in used items as this helps reduce the thousands of tonnes of waste we send to landfill every year - second hand no longer means second best.

Wing Yung Chan, the managing director of Preloved, said:

"Preloved.co.uk is excited about partnering with Oxfam as they lead the UK charge to eradicating poverty globally. We’ll connect our 5.8 million registered members and 41 million yearly visitors to Oxfam’s sizeable online inventory of second-hand products in hope that we can play our part in fulfilling Oxfam’s mission”.

Preloved offers free membership to all registered charities, and so invites other second hand charity stores to use Preloved's reach to help strengthen their funds.
