Follow on Google News | U of IL's Dr. Luisa DiPietro Honored by Wound Healing SocietyDr. Luisa A. DiPietro of the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry was selected as the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Wound Healing Society.
By: UIC College of Dentistry The award is given to an individual who has been recognized and nominated by their peers for outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the society. She was honored at the society’s annual meeting in San Antonio, TX, April 30 and May 1. Dr. DiPietro has served the society as Program Chair for the Annual Meeting, Member of the Board of Directors, Chair of the Website Committee, Vice President, President Elect, and President, and most recently, as Chair of the Publications Committee. “I was humbled and honored to receive the award,” Dr. DiPietro said. “I have benefited tremendously from being involved in the Wound Healing Society. Through my service in WHS, I have met many new colleagues, made many friends, and established new collaborations. I am grateful to the College for supporting both my scholarly and service activity, and for allowing me the time needed to serve the WHS.” The Center for Wound Healing and Tissue Regeneration comprises a community of scientists and clinicians devoted to the study of injury, wound healing, and regeneration. The members of this multidisciplinary research center investigate the body’s reaction to injury, as well as mechanisms of repair and regeneration of tissues. End
