“8 Lanes” Book Release Party brings Hollywood back to Houston

HOUSTON - July 5, 2015 - PRLog -- July 5, 2015 – Houston, TX.  Denisha Hardeman, collegiate track star-turned-Hollywood actress and now author of the new book “8 Lanes” is releasing her new book with a book release party in her hometown of Houston, TX. The book release party will be held on Saturday, August 22^nd at the Mariago Collective and will be hosted by 97.9’s JJ on the Mic. “8 Lanes” is the story of the domestic violence she endured while running track in college. Her message to all is to ask for help and not suffer in silence, which led to the formation of her foundation, Un-hushed, which will receive a portion of the book sales. “8 Lanes” will be available on Kindle, Amazon and her website www.everythingdenisha.com.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Actress and Author Denisha Hardeman will be premiering her new book, “8 Lanes”, at a book release party in her hometown of Houston, TX. The event will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 5:30pm – 9:30pm at the Mariago Collective art gallery located in the Piedmont Park area of Houston. It will be hosted by JJ on the Mic from 97.9 the Box.

Inspired by true events, “8 Lanes” is the story of her survival from a domestically abusive relationship she endured while running track in college at age 17. Denisha has since overcome the abuse, depression and suicidal tendencies she suffered during that time. The title of the book is a reference to her days of running track on scholarship at Southern Methodist University.

Denisha’s purpose in writing the book is to encourage those in similar situations to speak up, ask for help and talk about it and to know that if you are in an abusive situation, you can get help and get out of the relationship.  She has also started a foundation called “Un-hushed”, whose mission is to empower and encourage those who have been affected by abuse, bullying and depression to discover therapeutic alternatives that will help prevent the likelihood of them falling victim to chemical dependencies, psychological problems or suicide.

Denisha’s first major role was cast in Quentin Tarantino’s Oscar winning film, “Django Unchained” starring Jamie Foxx and Samuel L. Jackson. She has been featured in several magazines and in June 2015, she was a guest speaker for It’s My Hair Magazine’s 1^st Annual Black Women in Publication event in Atlanta where she spoke about the importance of speaking up for those in domestic abuse situations.

The “8 Lanes” book release party will feature raffles, gift bags (with the purchase of the book), food and drinks, and there will be a giveaway for a free trip. 10% of the sales will be going to the Un-Hushed Foundation and another 10% of sales will be going to the I’m Me Foundation, founded by Host JJ on the Mic.
