By: Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort The top three competitors for the Men’s and Women’s Pro Open classes will receive cash prizes. From noon to 5 p.m. there will be disc competitions featuring games featuring games such as longest throw and Ring of Fire[1] (http://#_ftn1) LVSSR’s disc golf course has been named the no. 1 disc golf course in the city. A high-altitude course that starts at 9,400 feet above sea level, it takes players through the resort’s spectacular mountainous terrain. Participants in the competition can bring their own disc golf equipment or rent equipment from Lee Canyon Sports in the base lodge. The event also includes a beer garden that will be located on patio of the base lodge. Guests and players will be able to enjoy a variety of craft brews, local and imported, and lawn games while listening to local musicians perform on the patio. Disc golf participants who are age 21 and over will receive a stainless steel souvenir cup for four complimentary beer tastings between holes. Additional beers are available for purchase. Birdies & Beers Itinerary Saturday, July 18, 2015 7:30 a.m. to noon Advanced sign-in and tee times 8 a.m. to noon All divisions tee off in groups of four Noon to 5 p.m. Disc golf games 5 p.m. Awards ceremony on the patio of base lodge 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beer garden “This is a great opportunity to escape the heat and come up to the resort to enjoy some local craft beers and spend time with the mountain family, whether you’re a spectator or participant in the disc golf competition,” The disc golf course is open throughout the summer season that runs through Labor Day. Sept. 7, 2015, weather permitting. Guests can walk and play the course for free with their own disc golf equipment or choose to rent or buy disc golf accessories and lift tickets at Lee Canyon Sports in the base lodge. The store offers disc golf packages which are $19 for adults, $14 for children 13 years old and under, and include the rental of one driver, one putter, a course map and a chair lift ticket. Disc golf season passes are $50 and are non-transferable. LVSSR is open for summer activities Friday through Sunday (including holidays), from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Summer activities include scenic chairlift rides, disc golf, hiking and mountain biking on the nearby Bristlecone Trail. Scenic chairlift rides will be available on the Sherwood lift that takes guests to 9,400 feet and offers views of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and wildlife like deer and wild horses. Chairlift rides are $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 years old and under. 2015/16 winter season pass holders can enjoy a complimentary scenic charlift ride once a day. Guests can also enjoy lunch or drinks on the patio of The Bighorn Grill and Bristlecone Bar, along with tailgating games like cornhole and Giant Jenga.
