The Mission of the Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions is to cultivate harmony among the world's religious and spiritual communities and foster their engagement with the world and its guiding institutions in order to achieve a just, peaceful and sustainable world.

The Vision of the Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions is of a just, peaceful and sustainable world in which:

Religious and spiritual communities live in harmony and contribute to a better world from their riches of wisdom and compassion

Religious and cultural fears and hatreds are replaced with understanding and respect

People everywhere come to know and care for their neighbors

The richness of human and religious diversity is woven into the fabric of communal, civil, societal and global life

The world's most powerful and influential institutions move beyond narrow self-interest to realize common good

The Earth and all life are cherished, protected, healed and restored

All people commit to living out their highest values and aspirations.

The Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions seeks to promote interreligious harmony, rather than unity.

The Xaverian Missionaries have been involved in interfaith and intercultural dialogue since their founding by St. Guido Conforti in the early part of the 20th Century. Their participation in the World Parliament of Religions is a continuation of this commitment to fostering mutual understanding and cooperation among peoples with the knowledge that the world is indeed “One Family.”

Eight hundred Xaverian missionaries currently serve in: Bangladesh, Burundi, Brazil, Cameroon, Chad, Colombia, Dem. Republic of Congo, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Mozambique, Philippines, Sierra Leone, Spain, Thailand, Taiwan, the UK and the USA

Mission: Inspired by St. Guido Conforti and St. Francis Xavier, we, Xaverian Missionaries, serve to keep the local Church aware of, engaged with and connected to the missionary mandate of the universal Church, principally by witnessing Jesus to those who have yet to know Him
