NewLink Publishing announces the release of Gilded Shadows

HENDERSON, Nev. - July 11, 2015 - PRLog -- “Gilded Shadows” is a fast-paced fantasy novel written by Stephanie J. Cress that dredges the conflicts of politics, loyalty, deceit, racism, honor, love, spite and despair.

Many of the secondary and tertiary characters are as important in their roles of Cress' grand stage as the three main characters: Sarrett, Dela and Gilwin.  Each play roles frequently unknown to each other while battling their own demons throughout a good portion of the book – the death of family, the hope for those of the Mixed races, the concept of self-preservation, pride and the understanding of emotions.

The characters are fresh and bold, unyielding in their purposes and interests. When the time comes that they are all tried and tested, Cress delivers with a grasp on the serious, delivering a plot that is both animated and poignant while remaining steadfast to the confluence of the story being told.

While the book started out slower than I would have liked, past the quarter-way point I cringed when I had to put it down and began thinking of the characters and wondering what came next for them. Plot consistency is unusually firm and, much to my delight, instead of the sun rising victoriously at the end of the night and drowning out every bit of darkness, it simply rises upon another day where shadows, known to some, still shift in the deserts of Old Dominion.

If you are a fantasy lover, I would pick this up and look for the next four books in the series. It promises to be a good, consistent one. I give this book 3/4 Miners.
