MTR x HKRep School Tour Expands to Secondary Schools in 2015/16 with “An MTR Romance”

HONG KONG - July 13, 2015 - PRLog -- A brand new stage performance specially produced for secondary school students kicked off today (11 July 2015) with the public premiere of the “MTR x Hong Kong Repertory Theatre (HKRep): An MTR Romance” at the HKRep Black Box Theatre in Sheung Wan.  This is the second drama production sponsored by the MTR Corporation under its Railway Safety School Tour programme that integrates dramatic art appreciation with understanding of safe and courteous travel on the MTR.

The new drama builds on the success and popularity of the first Railway Safety School Tour production entitled “MTR x HKRep: Master of Railway Safety”, which has been performed in front of more than 87,000 kindergarten, primary school and special school students over the past four years.

“Our innovative collaboration with HKRep is all about bringing engaging and interactive drama into the classroom to encourage appreciation of the arts.  While our shows for younger children also have a focus on promoting railway safety and passenger courtesy, the new production for secondary students has a more mature storyline which we hope will stimulate their interest in drama while also informing them of the benefits brought by railway development,” said Ms May Wong, General Manager - Corporate Relations of MTR Corporation.

“As outreach and the spread of appreciation for the performing arts is a key mission at the HKRep, we are grateful for MTR Corporation’s continuous support in the production of these community performances. We are very pleased that students of different age groups have been very enthusiastic about our plays,” said Dr Wai-man Woo BBS, Council Chairman of HKRep.

In the coming academic year, free performances of “MTR x HKRep: An MTR Romance” will be held at 30 secondary schools while “MTR x HKRep: Master of Railway Safety” will continue to be presented at 50 primary schools as well as 50 kindergartens and special schools.
