When the bonding is complete, the temporary crown is removed, and the permanent crown is then cemented into place on top of an abutment. Since mini implants are about half the size, no incision needs to be made to insert the post and the healing time is much shorter. For this reason, mini implants can often be completed in the same day.

To use mini implants as a base for dentures, four to six mini implants are installed along the upper or lower gum line. The dentures can then simply be clipped into place. Most dentures are able to be altered to fit onto the implants.
