Due to Mark’s role as a Board member of the Carmel Unified School District and as parents of three teenagers, Susan and Mark were sensitized to the alarming statistic that 1 in 5 kids today suffer from depression and many more have some form of mental disorder. AIM founder Susan Stilwell explains, “There is an epidemic in our country of diagnoses, especially ADHD. The consequences of not having successful treatments and cures for kids are horrific, including suicide (the #3 killer of our youth behind accidents and homicides), school failure, juvenile hall, homelessness, self-medication and addiction, sky-rocketing health care costs, and violence -- not to mention the toll it takes on family members.” AIM for Mental Health’s fundraising efforts support research and cures for ADHD, anxiety, depression, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorders, OCD, eating disorders, etc. AIM for Mental Health is officially a charitable campaign, under the One Mind Institute, a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to mental health research and awareness. Through AIM’s affiliation with the One Mind Institute, they are able to use its advisory board of ten top brain scientists to guide AIM for Mental Health on where their funding will have the greatest impact. After last year's very successful dinner raised $300,000 with 200 people in attendance, AIM for Mental Health is taking off and addressing a very important issue that affects our youth. About James Durbin James Durbin of Santa Cruz, CA stunned audiences with his electrifying performances and reached the finals during the 10th season of American Idol.
