The Neighborhood Spearheads a #DayOfPeace throughout Social Media and the Blogosphere

On August 15, bloggers and social media enthusiasts are asked to post a song, a poem, a short story, a photograph, a short film, a quote or whatever demosntrates or is symbolic of Peace on any level. While the epicenter is The Neighborhood - an original online collaborative of visual, recording & written-word artists - and the brain child of its creator Kendall F. Person, "A Spontaneous Day of Peace' does not exist at any specific location, it lives everywhere and is open to everyone", states Person.

Carlethal, writer and performer of 'Peace Signs Up' has allowed his song to be the Official Anthem, and in the past three weeks, the views of the youtube video have risen from 1400 to more than 25,000. Sites like BlogDogIt.com, Google groups like Peaceful Society on Earth, Photographers like Rob Goldstein and The Neighborhood Resident Artists & supperters alike have been instrumental in spreading the word via Facebook and Twitter.

When asked what would deem the online event a success, Person states without blinking, 'It already is a success. There is no false sense or dreams of grandeur about what we are trying to accomplish. But to see peace signs everywhere, it has to do something. It has to mean something, if only for the moment."

A Spontaneous Day of Peace kicks off at 12:01 AM. With no registration fee, no forms, no lines, no tickets to buy or long drives to make, throwing up Peace Signs via our blogs and social media timelines, affords the opportunity for everyone to particpate, to be creative and to imagine a world of Peace. #DayofPeace
