The Angelo Donghia Foundation’s Senior Student Scholarship Program (http://www.donghia.com/ Students must submit either a residential or commercial project of their own design. The panel of judges consists of top interior designers in New York City. Each student winner receives a scholarship valued at up to $30,000, to be applied to senior year tuition, board, maintenance and books. Zeng is the fifth recipient of the Angelo Donghia Foundation Scholarship from the School of Architecture. Previous recipients include Iva Kremsa, Jill Wood, Caroline Morris and Kristen Dusold. Zeng’s submission, a project called “The House of Art and Commerce,” involved converting a 17th century canal house in Amsterdam into a museum space with exhibition areas, as well as a separate area for auctions. His design enables viewers to enjoy a narrative experience as they stroll. The concept fosters linear circulation within a deep, narrow building that works with the art to create a perfect interconnection between exhibition areas and auction space. As a result, museum-goers are able to appreciate every aspect of the experience while walking, enjoying the essence of the museum without interruption. “Yumin’s creation is the essence of Design Thinking, one of Woodbury’s four pillars,” said Christoph Korner, Department Chair, Interior Architecture, in the School of Architecture. “His work respects the realms of art and commerce, yet makes the transition between the two seamless for the viewer. It’s an exceptional project, one eminently worthy of the scholarship award.” Woodbury University School of Architecture is a network of hubs strategically sited within the Southern California megalopolis: About Woodbury University Founded in 1884, Woodbury University is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Southern California.
