All companies on the list are headquartered within the ten-county Houston metropolitan area and have been doing business for a minimum of five years. While the list is ranked by revenue growth, companies were also considered for their innovation and involvement in their local communities. "We are pleased to be chosen once again as a Houston Fast 100 firm," said Kathleen McMordie, owner of Texas Swim Academy. "It's truly an honor, and we're grateful for the recognition as we continue to instill a passion for swimming and pass down vital water safety and life-saving skills to a new generation." More than 750 men and women are expected to attend the 2015 Houston Business Journal’s Fast 100 Awards Ceremony where the finalists will be revealed their ranking on the list. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Hilton Americas in Downtown Houston. Houston Business Journal's prestigious recognition is added to a list of many other accolades that have been awarded to the swim facility in the last few years. Texas Swim Academy was awarded the SBA Entrepreneurial Success Award in 2014 and two Macaroni Kid Gold Daisy Awards for "Best Swimming Lessons" and "Best New Business" in April 2015. The facility has was also recognized as one of the "101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work for" in Houston by the National Association of Business Resources. Making a Splash in the Houston Community Kathleen and her husband Bruce McMordie are both members of the Infant Aquatics Network, National Drowning Prevention Alliance, and the United States Swim School Association. They began Texas Swim Academy as a home-based program 10 years ago to teach Infant Aquatic Survival℠ and water safety to Katy and Houston area children. In 2012, the couple worked tirelessly and diligently to open up a new year-round swim facility in Katy that would not only give them the space they needed, but the ability to teach swimming lessons in the cooler spring and fall seasons. Kathleen and Bruce's passion for water safety is a driving force in all that they do. While other businesses measure their success with graphs, charts, and bottom lines, Kathleen and Bruce measure theirs with lives saved and changed.
