The 21st edition of this Delhi-NCR league competition was inaugurated in a spectacular way in the presence of some of the nation’s highest luminaries that included Hon’ble Chief Justice S.N. Dhingra and eminent parliamentarian Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, the chief guests on the occasion. The guests of honour were Shri Ravinder Gupta, Mayor MCD North Delhi, Shri Anil Sharma, Ex Deputy mayor of Delhi and Ms. Meenakshi Pahuja, Asst Prof, Lady Shriram College and international swimmer of repute. With player NBA player of Indian origin like Sim Bhullar and the India born Satnam Singh Bhamra making a name for themselves in the highly competitive world of American professional basketball, there are a whole lot of Indian youngsters rearing to follow in their footsteps. High level regional competitions like the Ramjas Basketball Champions League 2015 are just the right platform to bring this talent to fore, played as it is across the primary, junior and senior levels by both boys and girls. According to Ms. Rachna Pant the principal of Ramjas School, RK Puram, Sector 4, the hosts of the championship, “It is our firm belief that Indian boys and girls can be world beaters in both academics and sports, given the right conditions. This championship should be viewed in this light and I am extremely grateful to the management of Ramjas School who have provided this great platform to budding cagers from amongst the school going children of Delhi-NCR.” Ramjas Foundation, Delhi, which has been serving the cause of education in India for more than a century has under its flag 16 schools and a college. The Foundation firmly believes in the integration of sports into the curriculum to ensure that its students move out into the world as well rounded and groomed individuals thoroughly equipped with all qualities of an able leader. Keeping alive the vision of our Founder, Sh. Rai Kedarnath Ji, the Foundation took into its umbrella the Ramjas Basketball Champions League in the year 1995.In the year 1995, RBCL began as a fledgling effort and in these intervening 21 years it has registered an exponential growth with a record participation of 140 teams which translates into 2000 participants. This makes it the largest Basket Ball event being played at school level. Ramjas, R.K.Puram, the host of this event for a number of years, has been instrumental in promoting the sport and keeping its spirit alive. The event is being ably supported by Sports Sector Skill Council and FICCI. Ramjas School, R.K.Puram is all set to conduct its 21stRamjasBasket ball Champions League for boys and girls in the senior, junior and primary categories. They will be hosting 64 Senior Boys, 32 Senior Girls, 16 Junior Boys , 16 Junior Girls, 16 Primary Boys and 16 Primary Girls teams this year, making it into a Mega Event and catapulting it into a different league altogether.
