Aug. 18, 2015 - PRLog -- The transmembrane carbonic anhydrase 9 (CAIX) protein belongs to a family of carbonic anhydrase (CA) isoforms that are crucial for pH buffering and other physiological processes. In a number of cancers, elevated CAIX expression is associated with a more aggressive phenotype and less favorable clinical prognosis. In addition, as a target of the hypoxia-induced transcription factor HIF1-alpha pathway, CAIX is commonly used as a marker for hypoxia in tissues and in experimental systems. Thus, this enzyme occupies a pivotal position in the increasingly intertwined fields of cancer biology, tissue hypoxia, and pH homeostasis.

GeneTex offers an outstanding selection of antibodies to support hypoxia research. Please see the highlighted products below or follow the button to see our full line of hypoxia research antibodies.
