Follow on Google News | Volusia County Doctor Launches House Call PracticeBy: Hospital at Home Dr. Potts provides in home Medical Doctor visits to patients that are too ill or weak to leave their home due to any multitude of illnesses or dementia. “It can be extremely difficult for patients that suffer from chronic illnesses to leave their home for a medical appointment,” Some of these illnesses include congestive heart failure, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), severe diabetes, edema, hypertension, chronic pain, wounds, infections, pneumonia, Parkinson’s disease, post cerebrovascular accident, and any range of dementia, debilitated or deconditioned patients. In more advanced cases this is keeping patients at home under Dr. Potts medical care while providing the services they may find in the initial hospital setting. He can provide in home IV therapy, lab or blood work draws, medication initiation and refills, skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. In case of progression of an illness, Dr. Potts can directly admit to Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center and Halifax Health-Medical Center where he follows the patients as the attending Physician. This allows patients the comfort of bypassing waiting in the emergency rooms, and provides continuity of care with very short length of stays in the hospital. Stephanie Potts will serve as Hospital at Home’s Medical Practice Manager. She holds a Masters of Public Health from the University of South Florida, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida. Dr. Potts has been in private practice for twelve years in the Ormond Beach area. He is a graduate of Father Lopez High School, and obtained his Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida, His medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, and did his residency in Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Physicians. He is a Staff Physician at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center and Halifax Health-Medical Center.
