In the fall of 2002, Maxie Collier and his small film crew sat down and recorded this intimate interview with Tomica Wright, in which she shares personal details of her struggles and efforts to maintain control of Ruthless Records after Eazy-E’s untimely death in 1995. In this previously unreleased footage, she offers first hand recollections about Eazy-E’s life, career, and impact on the music industry. The interview was filmed during production of Collier’s feature film Paper Chasers, an Independent Film Channel (IFC) co-produced documentary exploring hip-hop entrepreneurship across America. The film profiles veteran and emerging artists and executives including Ludacris, Daymond John, J Prince, Fat Joe, Donnie Simpson, Sway Calloway, Chivon Dean, Chuck Brown, James Brown and many others. The Paper Chasers movie premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, was broadcast on the independent Film Channel, was distributed on DVD by Koch/E1, was distributed internationally by Weinstein Company, and streamed on Netflix. Two excerpts of the Tomica Wright interview posted online generated both controversy and commentary. Collier says,"Over the years, I had many people interested in this interview and many others in our archives. Despite other opportunities that presented themselves, I was determined to wait until after the movie came out to release highlights from our memorable conversation." The successful release of Straight Outta Compton, produced by Wright, Ice Cube, and Dr. Dre generated substantial new interest in the interview. Maxie Collier retrieved the full footage from the Paper ChasersTV/New Vista Archives archives, and with his wife and business partner, producer and actress Schatar Sapphira Collier, produced this insightful 21 part documentary entitled The Legacy Of Eazy-E As Told By Tomica Wright. Little did Maxie know, 13 years later, the clips would go viral around the world, receiving tens of thousands of views daily. The Legacy Of Eazy-E is produced and released by New Vista Studios.
