Follow on Google News | Outdoor TV industry needs to keep pace with the technology and ease of use that indoor TV's offerOutdoor TV's are still a relatively small niche market with the average buyers being large corporations (casino's, stadiums, etc.) and affluent personal buyers.
The quality issue is up for debate with some of the outdoor TV's on the market. Most of the outdoor TV manufactures build their TVs from your typical TV parts and encase the TV in an outer shell and are content with turning up the brightness levels so you can see the TV in the sunlight. The extra brightness does increase the visibility in sunlight but it also white washes the picture a bit. The containers the TVs are enclosed in gives the picture a slight blur effect because you have the picture screen and then the additional screen of the enclosure. There is one company that makes outdoor TVs that do not use the above enclosure method. In fact, they actually use name brand TVs that they convert to outdoor TVs. Mirage Vision outdoor TVs, out of Las Vegas, doubles down on the technology of their donor TVs. Mirage Vision is the only company to take current model TVs (Samsung, LG, Sony, Vizio, etc) and turns them in to outdoor TVs. They have three different levels of TV: Silver, Gold, Diamond, and Diamond E. Each level of TV is a name brand product converted to a Mirage Vision outdoor TV. There is a price point for everyone. The difference between the Silver through the Diamond is just the outdoor environment you are going to use the TV in. The TV that really sets them apart is their Diamond E series. They are currently one of the only big manufactures to sell a HD (4k) outdoor TV. Granted, you are going to pay a premium to have a HD (4k) outdoor TV but you will probably be the only one on your block to have one... If you are looking for the advanced technology that only name brand TVs offer and a TV that can withstand your outdoor environment you can try to steal a Mirage Vision TV from one of the casinos in Vegas or just go to the Mirage Vision website and order one for yourself...
