By: CelebrateLife'08 ONE TAP, are four talking cancerous lumps beginning with Stage 1 to Stage 4. “Has anyone ever walked up to you and just tapped you on your shoulder and it startled you? What is the first thing you do? Most likely you turn around to see who it is - then you inquire about what they want from you. This is ONE TAP”, says Jeannette Gregory. “There are times we have no warning but other times you get that one tap that you ignore because you don’t realize how deadly a game it can play.” Celebrate Life ‘08 was started after losing two siblings to cancer and surviving Stage 4 cancer herself in 2008. It has been Jeannette’s mission to educate, encourage and empower all women but particularly minority and low income women that are less likely to get annual check-ups and will often ignore symptoms that if caught early, can save their life. Celebrate Life ’08 provides workshops to low income neighborhoods teaching them how to reduce the risk of getting cancer and live a healthy lifestyle, perform self-breast examinations for early detection; provides free mammogram screenings to uninsured and underinsured women and provides one on one support to women before and after surgery. The 2015 “Chocolate Rose Ball” will be held Saturday, September 19th at the Crown Plaza Charlotte Executive Park from 6pm -10pm. This year’s celebration will honor the men who have stood strong with their spouses while their wives battled cancer. There are so many men who don’t know how to support their spouses during this traumatic time. Celebrate Life ’08 is there to teach them and honor them for not bailing out when things get a little tough. About Celebrate Life 08: Celebrate Life ’08 is a nonprofit 501c3 founded by Jeannette Tyson Gregory, a breast cancer survivor. Her goal is to bring hope and encouragement to women facing breast cancer with opportunities to live a life with a healthy attitude. http://celebratelife08.org/ End
