R&B Artist Monifah to perform at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Event in NYC on October 18th

NEW YORK - Sept. 14, 2015 - PRLog -- R&B Recording Artist Monifah will perform her current single "One Moment,"from her upcoming CD, Invincible. On Sunday, October 18^th for the opening ceremony for the 2015 American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5-mile walk at Central Park's Bandshell in New York City.

“One Moment”  was chosen by the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer committee as this years anthem for Breast Cancer survivors. The song was released by Monifah this past March on I-Tunes to great and amazing reviews. Julia Charles, of American Cancer Society, stated, “When I heard “One Moment” I felt very positive that our survivors, sponsors and participants would feel touched by her song”. We are so thrilled to have Monifah this year to join us for our event.

The song is a great mid tempo ballad from Monifah, it’s about encouragment on taking one moment for yourself and getting people through all types of adversity in everyday life. “One Moment” will stands firmly in the tradition of some emotive hits (Whitney Houston’s "Greatest Love of All, and ”Mariah Carey’s "Hero"). Monifah has just begun to scratch the surface with her enormous talent.

She is a born New York native from East Harlem, and a former graduate of the famed New York’s F.H. LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts. Monifah burst onto the R&B music scene in 1996 underneath the wings of the late Heavy D (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/08/heavy-d-is-dead-...). She made her mark in the music industry with 3 amazing albums that gave her Platinum and Gold Hits.

Last summer, she made history with the airing of her wedding to her beloved longtime girlfriend Terez Mychelle. The couple’s wedding became the first African-American celebrity same-sex union wedding special that aired on national television. That episode was nominated for a 2015 GLADD Media Award, - Which she won this past May at the GLADD Awards in New York for Outstanding Reality Program. Also, this past January, she was honored with the 2015 Vanguard Award, from The OutMusic Awards, which is a part of LGBT Academy of Recording Arts.

The newest chapter for Monifah is the anticipated Fall 2015 Independent release of her CD “Invincible”.
