Check out the full interview: https://www.youtube.com/ Toni Welch “First Lady of BMF” Originally born in Detroit, Michigan she got allured in the street life early. Although she always found and maintained a job, She remembers from being a young girl fascinated with the street life and all the things that it brought with it money, cars, clothes and powerful men. In the late eighties early 90’s she would meet Terry “Southwest T” Flenory who would pop up and visit her job to book airline tickets for his business trips early on in their relationship at the time eventually they would relocate along with her three sons in the early 00’s to Los Angeles, CA where life drastically changed. After living a life of untold wealth and glamour it all came crashing down when Toni, her longtime boyfriend Terry and over one hundred other associates were indicted. After being sentenced to 56 months and serving nearly 3 years in a federal prison for her part helping launder some 270 million dollars for “BMF” (Black Mafia Family), Toni realized she needed to make a change in her life and help others see that life in the streets isn’t worth what you lose… family. Shortly after being released from prison in 2012, Toni and her youngest son Screenwriter Corey Mills started a non-profit organization “Sylent Heart” to help and provide resources for children with incarcerated parents and other at risk youth. Toniis determined to help as many children as she can stating, “If we can just help one, that’s one less person who may end up behind bars.” Upon release she hosted several charity events for local Los Angeles schools and Holiday events for children in need, with the help of notable brands such as: Wal-Mart, Revolt TV, Chuck-E-Cheese, Actor- Alex Thomas Rapper- Kid Ink Comedian- Shawty and Singer-Tank Toni believes her story can help many children and young adults alike who find themselves in similar situations and need guidance and support. “While being away in prison many girls gravitated and wanted to hear my story while I was away, they learned from me and became stronger and I believe there’s a lot more who I haven’t reached who could use someone to talk to, just one person who cares.” She wants young women who find themselves in similar situations to think of the outcome of their current actions and decide that they too can change their lives without the repercussions she had to experience. Influenced by her mother’s strong drive, “Toni’s mother Carol” at times hard on her, always pushed her daughter to be a independent woman. As well as Oprah who came from the gritty streets of Chicago to becoming one of the wealthiest women in the world, Toni is giving hope to young girls and replicating the pattern to success.
