The Learning Collaborative Hosts Its Annual Sowing Seeds Luncheon

 
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Sept. 17, 2015 - PRLog -- (Charlotte,NC)– August27,2015– The Learning Collaborative will hold its annual Sowing Seeds Luncheon on Thursday,October1, 2015. This event is free and open to the public. It will be held at Myers Park Presbyterian Church, 2501 Oxford Place Charlotte, NC 28207.Doors open at 11:30 and the program will commence at noon.

N.C.  Senator  Jeff  Jackson,  Democrat,  District  37  is  slated  to  deliver  the  luncheon’s  keynote  address. A champion for early childhood education, Senator Jackson’s Pre-School advocacy hasbeen in the forefront of his platform.

"Early childhood education is the next frontier in public education,” says Jackson,“It holds vast potential for improving lives and strengthening society.  Here in Charlotte, The Learning Collaborative is at the forefrontof best practices that ultimately should be adopted statewide."

The Annual Sowing Seeds Luncheon serves to increase community awareness of the need forPre-School programs, boost financia land volunteer support for The Learning Collaborative and to acknowledge community partners committed to early childhood initiatives.

This year, The Learning Collaborative is honored to present Mr. Art Summerville,owner of LeadSource Marketing,with the prestigious Johnny Appleseed Award. The Johnny Appleseed Award ispresented to community partners who have embodied the mission of The Learning Collaborative through their tireless volunteer efforts and support.

“We are elated to honor such a wonderful friend to our young scholars,”says Judith Carter, Executive Director of The Learning Collaborative, “Mr.Summerville has for many years volunteered his services, his time and his treasure to ensure that our children and families have the resources they need for academic success.He is truly deserving of this esteemed honor.” Last years’ Johnny Appleseed awardee Mr. Bill Crowder,President of Crowder Construction, will present the award.
