Follow on Google News | Anil Ambani’s DAAP Defence Park in Nagpur to be the first of its kindBy: Reliance Group To be called the Dhirubhai Ambani Aerospace Park (DAAP), the park shall be built by Reliance Defence—a new subsidiary formed under the umbrella Group. The Maharashtra govt. has already granted 289 acre of land for the project and a letter of allotment has been awarded to Reliance Aerostructure ltd. In a felicitation ceremony held in Nagpur last month that was attended by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani said, “We are deeply committed to defence sector. Our first acquisition was Pipavav. Project at Mihan would be the largest greenfield project not only in India but in South East Asia. We started on June 16, 2015, with first presentation and in less than 10 weeks we got the land. This is a record." Sources reveal that Mihan was finally chosen out after a long assessment of potential sites in the nation. Reportedly, a combination of strategic and geographical factors added to it, which includes proximity to airport and testing space for conducting air tests and superior telecommunications and social infrastructure. With an IIM close by, it has ready access to well-trained managers for the industry. Mihan is designed to be a global hub of aerospace manufacturing with end-to-end capabilities, and will house capabilities for ancillary component manufacturing and after-sales support through a network of assembly lines producing fixed wing aircraft and aersotrcuctures for transport aircraft and helicopters for the defence and commercial sectors. To be built on a smart city model, DAAP will have a key role as employment aggregator and would generate nearly 1,500 additional jobs in the primary sector, 3,500 jobs in the secondary sector, and nearly 5,000 jobs in the tertiary sector. With its world-class facilities, it will be a platform for 1,500 additional jobs in the primary sector, 3,500 jobs in the secondary sector, and nearly 5,000 jobs in the tertiary sector. Expressing gratitude for setting up a defence factory in Nagpur, as Fadnavis had previously suggested Amabni, the CM called him the ‘brand ambassador’ of Mihan. He also highly appreciated the Make in India initiative for encouraging and accelerating public-private collaborations. Reference Link- http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/ End
