DTRA transfers TaCBRD technology to Poland

FORT BELVOIR, Va. - Sept. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- WARSAW, POLAND – Unfaltering collaborations between the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and Polish Governmental and Armed Forces officials will culminate in a successful technology transfer of the Transatlantic Collaborative Biological Resiliency Demonstration (TaCBRD) toolset, at the Polish Epidemiological Response Centre.

This first-ever transition provides a training platform for Polish participants on specific TaCBRD tools, and combines an operational demonstration-type event (staff) with practical field training (sampling and analysis) through the operational use of the technology.  In addition, the event will serve as a formal culmination of the official TaCBRD cooperation between Poland and U.S. and includes the TaCBoaRD software and tablet transition-signing ceremony to signify completion of the project.

TaCBRD is a collaborative program between the Department of Defense (DoD) through DTRA, the Department of State (through the Foreign Consequence Management Program), and the Department of Homeland Security (through the Science and Technology Directorate).  TaCBRD utilization will  enable users to better develop and demonstrate capabilities that support enhanced resiliency following a wide area biological incident that pose a threat to U.S. and Partner-Nation civilian and military personnel and key infrastructure sites. This program has been conducted in close partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw, Poland.

DTRA is the DoD’s official Combat Support Agency for countering weapons of mass destruction (WMD). Our people are subject matter experts on WMD, and we address the entire spectrum of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high yield explosive threats to U.S. warfighters and our allies. DTRA’s programs include basic and applied research and development, and operational support.
