Follow on Google News | MLC Cancer Foundation Will Paint the Town PinkMartinsville, VA-September 2015 – In celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the MLC Cancer Foundation will host “A Walk to Celebrate Life,” honoring the lives of cancer survivors. Patricia Via founded the organization in 2012 to give back to cancer patients and survivors. Since its inception, she helped to raise over $95,000 in funds for cancer patients. “A Walk to Celebrate Life” will be held at 5pm on October 3, 2015 at High Ridge Missionary Baptist Church (1455 Carver Road, Martinsville, VA 24112). This is an event to help to save lives, educate and honor those that have circum to cancer. The funds raised at this prodigious celebration will assist to provide mammographic breast screening/diagnostics to uninsured women. Speakers include: Janell Clark-Brown, APN-BC, MSN, MBA: Surgical Oncology Nurse Practitioner at Cancer Treatment Center of America (CTCA) Philadelphia, PA Tiffany Morris, RN, MSN: Clinical Assistant Professor at North Carolina A&T State University School of Nursing Misti Williams: ABGC Certified Genetic Counselor LewisGale Medical Center Reverend Everett Dickerson: Prostate Cancer Ambassador UNC Chapel Hill Cancer Research Center The Cancer Survivor team march participants share their bond by walking to celebrate life. “My mother, father and many other relatives have been diagnosed with cancer, and unfortunately many have lost their cancer battle,” said Patrica. “I am a six-year breast cancer survivor, and my platform via the MLC Cancer Foundation, is to assist others who receive a cancer diagnosis and to touch as many of their lives as possible,” she said. Mission Statement: MLC Cancer Foundation is a non-profit, tax exempt organization that offers resources and financial assistance to cancer patients to cover expenses incurred due to their diagnosis. In addition to financial support, the foundation educates people on preventative options and also genetic testing benefits for the entire family.
